Speed Kills!!!

This past year (fall of 2000) I thought I would try something different instead of my usual Remington ShurShot Heavy Dove Load.  So when we got to Academy they had Winchester AASC sporting loads.  They were 1-1/8 ounce load being pushed at 1300 FPS.  The only size they had in stock was number 7.5, so 7.5 it was.  Opening day was a hot one in Texas, around 110 if I remember right.  A buddy from school drove down with me to Dripping Springs where we got in around midnight.  We awoke at 5:45 the next morning and headed into SE Austin to shoot some doves.  We did alright in the early morning, especially since this was the first time for either of us to shoot a shotgun this year.  By around 8:30 we decided to switch to the back field.  When we got there we noticed white-wings flying high and fast.  I put in the modified choke in my Nova and started shooting.  I guess the few shells I shot in the early morning helped because I started folding doves left and right.  In about 30 minutes I had my limit and started helping Tyler get his.  He would shoot his 3 shots, and I would hand him my gun, and load his... this went on for a while until he got really frustrated and I tried to fill the rest of his limit before the birds stopped flying.  I had very few cripples and even 2 doubles (1 shot, 2 bird).  Overall I was very pleased with these shells and would recommend them in a heart beat.
