The story was weak. The acting was mostly uninspired. Nothing notable except for the part of "Ruby". I have never really cared for Renee Zellweger in her other movies, but she did actually turn in a good performance in this one.
The show gets so bogged down trying to make the male lead look miserable, that it makes the viewer miserable too.
I'm also not sure why they had to show the killing of the goat...? It wasn't a big deal to me really, but I just did not see the point of that. Maybe it was some sort of symbolism or foreshadowing that I just missed.
Most (if not all) of the nudity in the movie was useless, and a little disconcerting. The same effects could have been accomplished easily without it.
The way I look at the whole thing..... I paid $3 rental to see Nicole Kidmann's right nipple.
On a scale from 1 to 10, I'd rate it a 4. I just don't see all the hype.
Cold Mountain
I kind of liked the movie. The only thing that really sucked and was a little unbelieveable (if you haven't seen it stop reading) is that after all that the guy goes through to get back to Nicole Kidman, he gets to spend one night with her and then he gets shot. I mean, the guy escapes all kinds of danger and perhaps death, just to get killed when he finally gets back home. I didn't really get the point I guess.
